The Magic of a Little Note

作者 未知 于 2011-02-27 18:45:28 修改

I am a frequent eBay shopper.? I have certain brands I like that I know I can find NWT (“new with tags”) on eBay for significantly less than I’d pay at the store, so why not save a few bucks?? I highly recommend it, particularly since so many of us are watching our budgets.? (Suze Orman would be proud!)

I recently purchased an eyelet scarf in a beautiful coral color from an eBay seller.? I’d not purchased from her before and the transaction was typical.? I saw the item, bid on it, won it, paid for it on PayPal and it showed up in the mail.? I think the whole purchase was less than $20, so I’m sure the seller didn’t make much of a profit.? She did, however, make a difference for this customer.

I have a rating of 167 on eBay, which means I’ve purchased about 163 items.? (I’ve only sold four things.? Didn’t really care for it.)? Never, before this most recent purchase, had I ever received a thank you like the one I received from the seller that sold me the eyelet scarf.

There was a little yellow envelope, hand addressed to me by name, and tucked into the package.? I opened it to find a handwritten note on a pretty floral note card.? It read, “Hi Lori Jo – Here is the pretty tee. Wear and enjoy it in good health. Best regards, Jane”

I know, it wasn’t a big deal, but it was a big deal at the same time.? It was handwritten, personally addressed and took at least a few minutes and a bit of thought for the seller to include.? As a customer, it made me feel appreciated.? And I immediately went on eBay, gave her great feedback and added her to my favorite sellers list.? In the future, I will get notice of the items she has listed about once a month.

Jane’s gratitude made a difference in how I felt about doing business with her.? It was a small gesture with a big result for this customer.

What do you think? Do you express gratitude to your customers continually?? How could you? start writing thank you notes to your customers as part of your daily routine?
